Food diary? Checks. Mood diary? Try it!

Have you ever inhaled a bag of chips before a performance audit of the workplace? Or, polished away from a tub of manure ice after a date not go very well? If so then you reminds me very much, and we have something in common: Emotional eating.

As I have said earlier, not letting in my feelings--rather than hunger--tell me when and what to eat (not to mention how much) has been something I've really struggled with. not only is it completely derail my efforts to lose weight, but it has also been a crutches, which allows me to not deal with my feelings head on and face situations I would rather deal with.

One of the most useful thing I ever did? Started keeping a mood log. I have talked a lot about food diaries in my years as a weight loss guide but if truth be told my mood log has told me just as much (or more) about me and my eating habits than my food diary.

If you have never tried to do this, I strongly recommend it. It can be a simple entry in your regular food diary or you could keep an extra log.Enter a word that describes your feelings before you eat while you eat as soon as you are finished, and a little later.

Use it for an important purpose: identifies what emotions lead you to a. why? once you have figured out your triggers, can I guarantee, you can come up with better ways to solve the problems than eating.
